What do you see in this moment?
Imagination, memory, and travel as it was lived. Stories stay folded until you ask for them.

The boat has already left the part of the day you can plan. From the sand it looks still, but the water around it is deciding. If you swam out, you would not arrive at the same afternoon. Someone on board is eating bread with salt on their fingers and is not thinking about you at all. That is the relief of a horizon. It keeps a life that does not require an audience.

This photograph was made at Nungwi, on the north coast of Zanzibar, by Obonyo, and shared under a Creative Commons license. The editors of this page did not stand on that beach. The lived story of the tide belongs to the people who did. This note only says where the picture comes from, and that other stories here may be imagined.

With the sea breeze on my face, everything felt peaceful, and all my worries melted away.
